Facade Improvement Matching Grant Program

Facade Improvement Matching Grant Program

The Marshall Economic Development Authority recently reinstated its Façade Improvement Matching Grant Program to help revitalize and sustain the City’s business districts. The program provides incentives to local businesses looking to improve the exterior appearance and functionality of their building with matching funds for improvement projects.

Businesses are able to apply for up to $10,000 in matching grant funds for project related to: exterior paint/siding/professional cleaning, masonry repairs and tuck pointing, removal of architecturally inappropriate or incompatible exterior finishes, restoration of architectural details, repair of windows and doors, window and cornice flashing, canopy or awning installation or repair, murals, installation or repair of exterior signage, removal of barriers to access for people with disabilities, exterior lighting, wall/window/hanging/monument signs, and living wall or “green façade”.

The program will be capped at $100,000 or will expire after one year, whichever is met first. This program previously ran in 2019 and helped several businesses complete projects including the addition of new signage, windows, and entryway updates.

“We have received requests from several local businesses looking to make improvements to their building’s exterior,” EDA Director Lauren Deutz said. “Our hope is that this incentive can help to alleviate costs ultimately improve the overall appearance of our business districts.”
