Marshall Community Foundation Makes Commitment to New Aquatic Center with Large Donation

Marshall Community Foundation pledges $75,000 towards the project

Efforts to support further amenities at the new Marshall Aquatic Center gained significant momentum this past week when the Marshall Community Foundation pledged $75,000 towards the project.

“The Marshall Community Foundation is excited to be a sponsor of the new Marshall Aquatic Center. Our mission is to enrich our quality of life by connecting the resources of today with the dreams of tomorrow. We believe that the Aquatic Center project aligns wonderfully with that goal and helps us support community improvement, diversity, wellness and youth development here in Marshall. We are excited for this opportunity and its impact on our community,” said Marshall Community Foundation Board Chair Sean Culhane.

The Marshall Community Foundation is a local foundation led by a board of community volunteers that helps people, organizations, and businesses that want to improve our community now and in the future by providing vital funds necessary for their success.

With the intention of offering residents and local businesses sponsorship and special recognition opportunities, a community led Jump In, Make A Splash committee was formed in partnership with the Marshall Community Foundation, and the City of Marshall. The successful referendum held on November 7, 2023, will provide $18.3 million in funds through the extension of the sales tax in Marshall, but additional commitments will help support further amenities such as a body slide flume, lily pad water walk, climbing wall and more shade structures. All donations are being made to the Marshall Community Foundation, who is serving as the fiscal agent for the project and managing the aquatic center fund.

Marc Klaith, Jump In, Make A Splash Committee Co-Chair stated, “We look forward to partnering with the Marshall Community Foundation and our residents and businesses to support this very important project. The aquatic center is a generational project where funds will have long-term positive impacts.”

Construction of the new Marshall Aquatic Center is tentatively scheduled to begin in fall of 2024. For questions regarding the project, please contact Preston Stensrud, Parks and Recreation Superintendent at preston.stensrud@ci.marshall.mn.us or 507-537-6786.
