Absentee Balloting to Begin September 22nd

Absentee Balloting to Begin September 22nd

Absentee voting begins Friday, September 22nd on whether to extend sales tax to fund the City of Marshall’s proposed aquatic center construction. Absentee ballots are available on the 2nd Floor of City Hall at the City Clerk’s Office or a ballot can be requested online at MNVOTES.ORG.

Voting hours for Absentee will follow the normal hours for City Hall which is 8 a.m. and close at 4:30 p.m.

City Hall will also be open one additional day on Saturday November 4th from 9am until 3pm.  The final day to acquire an absentee ballot is Monday, November 6th and City Hall will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Voters will need to fill out an Absentee Application to receive a ballot. Ballots can be completed at City Hall and immediately returned, or voters can take their ballot home and mail it back to City Hall. A person can deliver up to 3 ballots to City Hall but must show Identification and fill out a form before the ballots can be accepted.

Ballots may NOT be delivered to the polling place.

Voters cannot pick up another person’s ballot but they can drop off the application and the ballot will be mailed.

There will be one question that is a “Yes” or a “No” to extend the existing sales tax. This will not be an increase on property taxes.

An assistive voter device will be available at the start of Absentee Voting.
