Candidate filing Opens Tuesday, May 17

Candidate filing for the special election opens Tuesday, May 17.  The special election will take place with the August 9th State Primary Election for the unexpired term of City Council, Ward 1, which will continue to January 2025.  Office seekers may file their affidavit of candidacy through May 31.

 

Potential office seekers should also review the campaign filing packet which can be found on the Secretary of State’s website. There you will find links to the affidavit of candidacy form, campaign finance forms and additional information to administer your campaign.  

 

Individuals interested in being a candidate can complete the documents needed for filing at the City Clerk’s office located on the second floor of City Hall.   City staff will begin accepting affidavits of candidacy starting at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17.  The City Clerk’s office will also be open for extended hours until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31 as required by state law.  (City offices will be closed on Monday, May 30th for the Memorial Day Holiday.)

 

Candidate filing for other City Council seats for the November 8th State General Election is August 2 through August 16.
